The Alphacam solution for stone, metal and wood, by Vero Software, will be featured Jan. 18-20 at the International Stone Event’s StonExpo in Las Vegas, Nev.

Hosted at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, the International Surface Event is the larg-est trade show in North America dedicated to the stone, tile, and floor-covering industries. Comprised of the SURFACES, StonEpo/Marmomacc Americas and TileExpo trade shows, the International Surface Event offers the latest products, as well as hands-on demos, network-ing and educational opportunities, and much more.

Alphacam Stone software has been specifically developed to address the unique challenges encountered when machining marble and stone, and is one of the most widely used CAM software packages in the stone industry.

Visitors to StonExpo can learn more about Alphacam at booth No. 4689, where demonstra-tions of the new features and upgrades within in Alphacam 2017 R1 will be available.

Vero will partner with parent company Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence at StonExpo to demonstrate how Hexagon ROMER portable measuring arms can be easily paired with Vero solutions for greater efficiency on the shop floor.

Among advancements in Alphacam 2017 R1 is a significant enhancement to the stone saw-ing feature, which reduces the risk of error. The latest version of the software offers the ability to check for fouling against all geometries selected for the same operation, and tool-paths are trimmed as needed.

The addition of this feature means that parts can be laid out on one piece of stone and sawed in the same operation with the use of the new automatic fouling check. The operator can use the new toolpath extensions tool with options for extending saw paths. This is deemed to be particularly useful in stone operations for which he saw cuts can be extended to just outside the sheet in order to prevent plunging of the saw.
