Great interiors aren’t defined by surfaces alone. Increasingly, it’s the hardware, lighting and functional systems working behind the scenes that determine how a space looks, feels and performs.
Häfele America will put those often-overlooked details in the spotlight during The Häfele Experience at High Point Market, an immersive event for designers and architects hosted by award-winning interior designer David Santiago on Monday, October 19.
Held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Häfele America’s Innovation Center in Archdale, North Carolina, the event will give attendees a hands-on look at integrated lighting, furniture and architectural hardware, and functional solutions for kitchens, closets and other living environments.
Rather than a traditional showroom visit, Häfele is positioning the event as an opportunity to explore how individual components influence both the aesthetics and functionality of finished spaces.
A centerpiece of the experience will be the company’s Blackbox Lighting Experience, where attendees can see firsthand how integrated lighting interacts with surfaces, materials and architectural details.
That relationship between light and material has become increasingly important as designers and manufacturers seek to create interiors in which surfaces, hardware and illumination work together rather than as separate elements.
Looking Beyond What You See
Leading the tour will be David Santiago, founder of Casa Santi Interior Design and the creative force behind Strictly Santi and Hospidential.
Santiago’s work spans residential and hospitality interiors and includes lighting and wallcovering collections, giving him a perspective that crosses the traditional boundaries between materials, components and finished design.
The informal tour is designed to encourage questions and conversation, with attendees able to interact directly with Häfele representatives and fellow design professionals while exploring applications for kitchens, closets and other interior spaces.
For S&P readers, the event offers a close-up look at a part of design that is easy to overlook: the components behind the finished surface.
From concealed hardware and opening systems to lighting integrated into cabinetry and architectural elements, these details can influence everything from visual impact and usability to how a material is ultimately experienced within a room.
