EGGER Group has acquired Italian recycling company Lenocart S.r.l., expanding the wood-based materials manufacturer's access to recycled wood and strengthening the raw material supply chain for its particleboard operations in Italy.
EGGER acquired 100 percent of the shares in Lenocart, based in the Milan metropolitan area, in a transaction completed July 28. The acquisition includes the recycling operation as well as Lenocart's transport fleet and becomes part of EGGER's international Timberpak recycling network.
The move is particularly significant for EGGER's plant in Caorso, Italy, which manufactures particleboard using 100 percent recycled wood. Lenocart currently collects approximately 10,000 tonnes of recycled wood annually, material that will help supply the Caorso operation.
“The acquisition of Lenocart is an important step in strengthening our recycling network in Italy,” said Giuseppe Conti, plant director at EGGER's Caorso facility and responsible for wood purchasing. “The Milan region offers significant potential for the collection of recycled wood. Together with the experienced Lenocart team, we aim to further develop the business and contribute to a more circular use of resources.”
Under the Timberpak model, recycled wood is collected, sorted and pre-shredded at regional collection sites before being transported to EGGER manufacturing plants for final processing. The addition of Lenocart gives the company a collection operation within the Milan metropolitan area, one of Italy's major economic regions.
The acquisition comes as recycled fiber and circular material flows are becoming increasingly important to the wood-based panel industry, both as manufacturers seek to make greater use of recovered wood and secure reliable sources of raw material.
EGGER has been increasing its use of secondary raw materials across its operations. In its recently reported 2025/2026 fiscal-year results, the company said recycled wood and sawmill byproducts accounted for 66 percent of the wood used in its wood-based materials, rising to 76 percent in particleboard production.
Lenocart has worked with EGGER as a business partner for several years. The recycling company's roots date to the 1950s, when founder Nicola Lenoci began collecting waste paper and textiles in Milan. The family subsequently expanded the operation into the collection, trading and transportation of recyclable and waste materials.
Dario Lenoci will continue to manage the operation following the acquisition, and EGGER said all Lenocart employees will remain with the company.
“Lenocart has grown over decades as a family business and is deeply rooted in the region,” Lenoci said. “With EGGER, we have found a partner who shares our values and is committed to supporting the long-term development of our site.”
The acquisition adds another collection point to EGGER's international Timberpak network and supports the manufacturer's broader strategy of keeping recovered wood in higher-value material applications, including the production of new wood-based panels.
