Marlene Liriano, IIDA, LEED AP ID+C, has been named as the president of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) for 2016-2017. Liriano currently serves as the managing director of Interior Architects in Miami. During her acceptance speech, she pointed to sustaining opportunities for young designers and increasing Latin American growth as goals for her presidency.

“Marlene’s passion for design, her leadership at top global firms, and her expertise in the industry make her the ideal candidate to serve as the next president,” says IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP. “Under Marlene’s leadership, the International Board of Directors brings together a group of design leaders who collectively have decades of experience and a deep understanding of the vision and mission of IIDA. They are all wonderful additions to our International Board, and we look forward to their contributions.”

“For years, I have looked to the Association as an entity that truly represents commercial interior design,” says Liriano. “It also provides an international platform for those individuals that are willing to dedicate their time to pushing the profession forward, providing valuable research and insight to our clients, and allowing students to learn more about the interior design profession.”
