Maik Fischer became the new Director of interzum and ZOW on 1 April. He succeeds Matthias Pollmann,  Vice President, Trade Fair Management at Koelnmesse. With Maik Fischer, Koelnmesse has filled the position from within its own ranks since the 40-year-old can look back on several years of experience in the trade fair sector.

Maik Fischer joined the Koelnmesse team in August 2015. As a graduate of business studies, he had an ideal background, having focused on issues relating to the trade fair industry during his degree. He then gained practical experience in sales and marketing in various companies, most recently as Head of Sales and Marketing. At Koelnmesse, he took on the role of Director for the foreign trade fairs Feria Mueble & Madera, Andina Pack and Alimentec in Colombia.

In particular, Maik Fischer’s extensive market knowledge and international experience make him the ideal candidate for the position of Director of the world’s leading trade fair for the furniture and interior construction industries' supplying sections. Through his work for Feria Mueble & Madera, he will encounter some familiar faces in his new position because Feria Mueble & Madera in Bogotá is an event within interzum’s area of expertise.

As a factor in interzum’s success, close contact with the industry is especially important for Maik Fischer: “We know who we are organising the trade fair for,” says Maik Fischer. “interzum is very successful because it is geared to the needs of the industry. I will do everything in my power to ensure the aspects that make it so successful are developed further.” In his new position, Maik Fischer will work closely with Matthias Pollmann, who now heads the entire trade fair management division.
