Karim Rashid's Salone Recap

The iconic Koncord Stool and its new partner Jet change skin into a very special edition: the Next Collection. To celebrate the 10th year of the collaboration between SLIDE and Karim Rashid, the pieces get a unique lacquer finishing.

Every element of Koncord and Jet gives the idea of ​​being on the move: the aerospace name, the ergonomic shape, the futuristic design. The special nuance that fades from silver to purple, in fact, changes colour depending on the position from which the products are observed. 
Next was born to give a touch of absolute contemporaneity to products with a timeless design.

The new Cyborg Outdoor lamp is built of high-resistance fiber-reinforced concrete with selected aggregates. The special form of the lamp body, with its three legs, and the internal positioning of the indirect-light LED light source, generates dramatic effects of light and shadow on lawns.  This is the bigger sister of the original Cyborg Lamp, designed by Karim in 2015 for Martinelli Luce.     Tropikal Mirror @ Tonelli Halfway between a freestanding mirror and a decorative element, Tropikal Mirror designed for Tonelli conveys ironic elegance: its shape is inspired by large banana leaves, evoking the lush atmosphere of tropical forests. “Perfect for adding a personal touch to your bedroom or living room, in both residential and contract settings, Tropikal may be customized to meet your needs in terms of style, thanks to a selection of two finish options for the panels: smoked glass or two-sided smoked mirror. The matte black lacquered base conceals the wheels, for an exquisitely clean aesthetic”, says Karim.     Vertex Sunchaise @ Vondom Vondom's Vertex Collection expands its territory with a new sunchaise. Launched at Salone 2019, the new item designed by Karim follows the principles of the others from the collection. Triangular planes which join dynamically together to create comfortable forms suitable for lying in the sun. The Vertex Collection was created to integrate a more conceptual architectural piece into our space, to give it a more sophisticated touch.     The Royal Collection @ Purho On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2019, Purho exhibited in the spaces of the Rinascente Milano Design Supermarket, a selection of Murano glass vases signed by two great names in design and architecture, Alessandro Mendini and Karim Rashid.  Karim was honored to show his entire Royal Family composed by the vase King and Queen, Kount and Kountess, and the trusty Knight. Check out HERE the full Royal Collection.     Sakred Collection and D'SIGN Award @ Krosno The glass works of art of Krosno and the Sakred Collection, created in cooperation with Karim Rashid, were presented at Fuorisalone 2019, as part of the Human Spaces exhibition organized by Interni Magazine. In this collection, Karim Rashid references three foundations of sacred geometry: circle, line, and triangle; or, energy, relation, and balance. During the event, Karim also presented the Krosno Young D'signers Award. Karim Rashid and A.A.T.C. collaborated on an innovative marble furniture collection that debuted at this year’s Salone del Mobile in Italy. The Design-K collection embodies balance and beauty, emotion and intrigue, and strength and grace. With a focus on precision and craftsmanship, Design-K challenges the limitations of equilibrium and redefines what is possible with marble.
