Designers from across the globe will converge on the Las Vegas Convention Center this week for the 60th year of the NKBA Kitchen and Bath Industry Show, February 27-29. Designhounds kicked off the week one day early with their exclusive Changemakers Conference on Monday.

“KBIS is always an inspiring show that we are so excited to be a part of,” says Veronika Miller, Founder and CEO of Designhounds and NKBA Global Connect Consultant. “However, I wanted to create a space for our Designhounds specifically, to go into the show really connected to themselves and why they entered the design world in the first place. The growth of our industry is dependent on design pros leading the way through innovative projects and visionary design, and perhaps even considering the move away from a transactional to a purpose-driven project approach. When design and creative vision lead the way they establish the value of the designer – clients, profits and growth opportunities will follow this value.”

Miller came up with the concept for the event, she says, to help reconnect the Designhounds community to their “why.” Inspired by today’s challenges in a transactional industry and the influence of rapidly growing technology, the focus of the conference is the importance of human-centric design.

Made to be a deep-dive into the personal journey of each designer, this event touched on what Designhounds can offer the industry as individuals and take a close look into why, since the very beginning, they “Dare to Design.”

The conference featured several introspective activities and present special guests, including the founder of The Bertrand Williams School of Design Visualization, Shannin Williams. Also featuring a sketching workshop, soapbox talks and a creative design challenge, the conference included sponsor roundtable discussions from event sponsors Westlake, Mr. Steam, Grohe, and SKS.
