ATLANTA – November 15, 2017 – Announced at Greenbuild earlier this month, ARAUCO North America is the recipient of a 2017 Forest Stewardship Council® Leadership Award for investing approximately $400 million in a new FSC-certified particleboard mill in Grayling, Mich. – along with its nine other certified mills in North America – to meet growing customer demand, with a goal of 100% FSC-certified or recycled inputs for forest products by 2020.

ARAUCO is among 16 organizations and individuals to earn this year's Leadership Awards from the FSC, the world's leading forest certification system. "We were astounded by the accomplishments of our award winners this year," said Corey Brinkema, president of the Forest Stewardship Council US. "By building the market for FSC products, the award winners show we can conserve forests, even as we use forest products in our daily lives."

"We are honored to be recognized as a winner of one of the 2017 Forest Stewardship Council Leadership Awards. We congratulate this year's other winners," said Rich Weber, Director – Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability of ARAUCO, "for their accomplishments in forest stewardship; and thank the FSC for creating this opportunity to showcase sustainability leaders."

ARAUCO wood products are FSC Chain of Custody certified and available as FSC Mix Credit (FSC-C019364; FSC-C116012). "ARAUCO's commitment to responsible forestry is in our company's DNA," said Kerry Little, Corporate Sustainability Manager of ARAUCO. "Pursuit of FSC certification for our particleboard mill in Grayling, Mich., is a testament to our leadership, team work and operations excellence. We are proud to partner with our customers who continue to take offering of sustainable, responsible forest products to the next level."
