As anticipation builds for IWF 2026, organizers have announced the field of entrants for one of the woodworking industry’s most closely watched innovation competitions: the IWF Challengers Distinguished Achievement Award.
Recognized throughout the woodworking and manufacturing sectors, the Challengers Award honors companies introducing products, services, manufacturing technologies and production techniques designed to advance the industry and improve the way manufacturers operate.
This year’s competition attracted 84 submissions from 65 IWF 2026 exhibitors, reflecting continued investment in automation, process improvement, digital integration and productivity-enhancing technologies across the wood products and surface manufacturing industries.
A panel of nine independent judges representing a cross-section of industry expertise will evaluate each submission. From the original field, 20 finalists will be selected and announced June 16.
Those finalists will move on to one of the competition’s defining features: live demonstrations conducted the day before the show officially opens. Following the demonstrations, judges will determine the recipients of the industry’s top honors.
Seven Challengers Distinguished Achievement Award winners will be announced on the opening day of IWF 2026, Tuesday, Aug. 25.
For manufacturers, fabricators and production professionals attending the show, the competition offers an early look at technologies poised to influence the future of woodworking and panel processing. Historically, the Challengers Award has spotlighted advancements ranging from CNC automation and material handling systems to software, tooling and production innovations that address evolving industry demands.
The 20 finalists and their entries will also be featured throughout the duration of the show in the Challengers Award Gallery, giving attendees the opportunity to explore the technologies and solutions recognized for their potential impact on the industry.
