Easthampton, MA – Chemetal, the maker of metal designs and laminates for interior spaces, is now powered by the sun, at least partially, with the addition of a new 560 panel solar array. Chemetal anticipates the 201 kW solar project will provide up to 33% of the company’s annual electricity use and offset over 200 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. Carbon dioxide is one of the leading causes of global warming.

“We began seriously considering solar when we doubled the size of our facility in 2016,” said Geoff Schaefer, creative director and president of Chemetal, noting that the new roof was the ideal platform for solar. “The financial incentives were beneficial, as was the opportunity to reduce our carbon footprint with renewable energy.”

Chemetal, a family-owned company that’s been in business for over 50 years, has a strong commitment to green practices. Many of its metal designs are made entirely of aluminum, the most recycled material on the planet. Some of its aluminum finishes contain up to 85% recycled content, offering builders and architects LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credits. LEED is the most widely used third-party verification for green buildings. For more information visit www.chemetal.com.
