Three new leaders were elected to The American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Board of Directors during AIA25, the group’s annual conference on architecture and design.
The conference was held June 4-6 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Santos Rivera is the Founder and CEO of YSR, LLC in Washington, D.C. She created Women Inspiring Emerging Leaders in Design (WIELD), has served on the Equity and the Future of Architecture Committee and the AIA COVID-19 Response Committee. She is a recipient of the 2022 Young Architects award. Santos Rivera earned a Master of Architecture from Syracuse University.

Takeuchi is an Associate at Ferraro Choi and Associates in Honolulu, Hawaii. He has served as the Chair of the Young Architects Forum and received the AIA Young Architect award in 2023. Takeuchi received a Doctor of Architecture degree from the University of Hawaii School of Architecture.

Kennedy practiced architecture for over 30 years before being selected as the Executive Director of AIA Wisconsin. She served as the President of the Wisconsin Society of Architects (now AIA Wisconsin) in 1994 and was the youngest person and first woman to serve in that capacity. Kennedy received a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and a Master of Architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
The newly elected leaders will serve terms beginning on December 5, 2025.
