IWF Expands with New Western Trade Show Launching in 2027
The International Woodworking Fair (IWF) is branching out beyond its long-running Atlanta franchise with the debut of IWF West, a new trade show and conference coming to San Antonio, Texas, August 25–27, 2027.
Designed as a three-day event, IWF West will serve both the growing southwestern U.S. market and IWF’s national customer base. While showcasing the best of IWF Atlanta’s product mix, the San Antonio edition will also deliver a unique experience with its own features, scale, and pace.
Why IWF West?
IWF West was developed in response to strong exhibitor and attendee demand for a show timed between Atlanta’s biennial events and located in a Sunbelt hub. Research confirmed high interest in a western show — especially in Texas.
Key elements include:
- A concentrated three-day schedule for efficiency and impact.
- A curated exhibitor mix: established IWF Atlanta brands plus first-time participants.
- A right-sized show floor for quick access to machinery, components, supplies, and services.
- A more relaxed environment to explore products and connect with new suppliers.
- Enhanced networking and professional development in an intimate, education-focused setting.
Both IWF Atlanta and IWF West are sponsored by the Wood Industry Association (WIA) and produced by the Atlanta-based IWF team.
Research-Backed Concept
Independent studies conducted in August 2025 show strong support:
- Exhibitors: 56 percent favored the IWF West concept; 64 percent liked its attributes, including location and show length.
- Attendees: 63 percent of buyers from IWF 2024 endorsed the new show.
One exhibitor noted, “I love the idea of a new show in Texas… It sounds like a wonderful opportunity in a central location and I also like the three-day scheduling.”
San Antonio: The Venue
IWF West will take place at the Henry B. González Convention Center, located in San Antonio’s historic district. The city is one of the nation’s top convention destinations, offering:
- More than 48,000 hotel rooms, with 15,000 downtown and over 4,000 within walking distance.
- Easy flight access from across the U.S., plus a central drive-in location for Texas markets.
- A vibrant setting with rich history, culture, and attractions for attendees and exhibitors alike.
What’s Next
IWF West is positioned as a complementary counterpart to IWF Atlanta, giving the industry a new opportunity to connect, source products, and grow business in alternating years.
“San Antonio would be an excellent venue,” said one attendee. “I like the idea of a more relaxed show environment to allow me time to explore items and equipment that interest me.”
As anticipation builds, IWF West is set to extend the brand’s reach and impact — bringing woodworking innovation and networking to the heart of Texas.
