Schattdecor Inc. designer Mark Smith presents the new City Collection at IWF Atlanta.
Every year more of the world’s population is moving to major urban centers. This trend recently became the basis for Schattdecor’s presentation at IWF 2010. For the fair this year designer, Mark Smith, developed a new color palette for wood grains, appropriately titled the City Collection, which will provide the Schattdecor team with fresh trend colors in wood grains for the next two years.
The team presented Smith’s new colors and trends to a variety of customers from around the globe in a hospitality suite at the Omni Hotel, Atlanta. Overall the customer commentary was that the city story was quite impressive. New decors like Rafia, Fiordipelle, Donau Acacia and Palo Santo surveyed well. Trendworthy colors from the City Collection for wood grains like Golden Gate Bridge, Blackwood Park, Peachtree Avenue and Chocolate Bar were among customer favorites. Smith also developed a palette of solid colors to be used as a complement to the wood grain colors. The palette was inspired by the unique colors of 16 cities including Seattle, Memphis, New York and even St. Louis.

There was an excellent customer turnout for a cocktail party Wednesday evening with Schattdecor CEO, Reiner Schulz. People came to hear more about the plans and progress on the production facility in St. Louis. Construction measures for the new plant in the U.S. have made great progress since they were resumed this spring. Already the exterior of the building is near completion, with the walls having been tilted up and the roof already in place. Additionally, interior work has begun and the plant's first printing press is to be installed this October. Décor paper production will begin early in 2011. This facility, along with the facility in progress in Turkey, will make 11 production sites around the world printing decorative paper and finish foil for Schattdecor.
