Süddekor LLC, a subsidiary of leading décor printer and impregnator 2D-Group (Süddekor/Dakor), has recently earned certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an international organization that promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world's forests.
Darvin Munger, responsible for quality control at Süddekor, said FSC-accredited Scientific Certifications Systems (SCS) granted Südekkor chain of custody certification that does not apply to all of Süddekor’s products but does track the source of raw materials harvested to produce certain papers on which the company prints. “Our FSC certification through SCS means we can now supply our customers with FSC-certified products which come from responsibly managed forests,” Munger said.
The FSC requires paper products to be tracked from suppliers through to the end-user to ensure that certified paper is not mixed with non-certified paper. FSC certification is one of several environmentally responsible practices Süddekor has implemented, including wastewater treatment, waste-material recycling and energy-consumption reduction throughout its manufacturing facilities in Agawam, Mass., East Longmeadow, Mass., and Biscoe, N.C.
