Open for business in Pompano Beach, Fla., is Boise Building Materials Distribution (BBMD), a division of Boise Cascade, LLC, Idaho-based distributor of engineered wood products, plywood, OSB, lumber and other building products. BBMD is a wholesale distributor of lumber and building materials serving industrial accounts, pro dealers and home centers in the United States. With this new facility, Boise has 32 distribution locations serving the U.S. building industry. The new facility occupies nine acres with 76,000 square feet of covered storage and is rail-served.
The Pompano distribution center will enhance the product mix currently offered through Boise’s Orlando facility. Additions will include products specific to the South Florida market include a larger offering of rebar and concrete accessories as well as plywood and lumber to meet the stringent Dade County materials certifications.
"We are excited about about increasing Boise's presence in the South Florida market," says Chuck Donaldson, Pompano Beach Distribution Center manager. "We will maintain a product line that will allow us to continue servicing our dealer accounts as well as increasing our product mix to the industrial and OEM manufacturing customers in South Florida."
Donaldson says most construction in the South Florida market includes concrete and rebar while few buildings are stick-framed. Donaldson says post-Hurricane Andrew building code revisions discontinued the use of oriented strand board (OSB), increasing the demand for plywood and concrete accessories.
